Our rackets in the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum

During The Championships 2026 eight rackets from this project were acquired by the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum for its collection.

Presented to the Museum were Prototype #03, unstrung frame #100 from the 100-piece 2019 ‘Masterpiece’ launch model, six examples of current models, a Grays Wood Tennis racket cover and companion document written by Wood Tennis Club Founder & Director Stephen Murphy summarising the project’s story so far.

The rackets were presented to the Museum’s Senior Curator, Emma Traherne, by Grays CEO-Commercial Richard Gray, great grandson of founder H.J. Gray, at a hand-over ceremony in the Library of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Monday 29 June, Day 1 of The Championships 2026.

The acquisition was facilitated by the Museum’s Collections Officer, Eleanor Thomas, and Stephen Murphy.

Our project has written a small chapter in the game’s vast story, reviving new traditional all-wood rackets, making them part of tennis again after almost 40 years.
