About Wood Tennis

“Wood-versus-Wood Tennis”

Some may ask, if I buy a wood racket, how will I use it?

This is where our concept of Wood Tennis comes in.

While some of our purchasers have played with and against others using standard rackets, we feel the fairest and most enjoyable contest is to play with and against others who are also using wood rackets.

The other rackets need not be Grays rackets; they can be playable vintage rackets. Although, purchasers who buy two or more Grays rackets will always have at least one to lend to a partner.

Simply put, our concept of Wood Tennis is “wood-versus-wood tennis”.

Wood Tennis can be any format you want – social or competitive. It can be regular weekly play, a formal competition, or just whenever you’re in the mood.

It can be two, three, four or more players. If there are a larger number, the players can form a Wood Tennis Group.

You can even see Wood Tennis as a distinct form of tennis, just as, for example, beach tennis and wheelchair tennis are distinct forms.

The important thing is to enjoy the unique experience and the style of tennis that wood rackets create.
