Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your rackets cost?

Prices for our hand-crafted strung rackets begin at GBP£242 / USD$318. That’s for ‘The Masterpiece’ or the ‘Mystique’ strung with Synthetic Gut.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship world-wide! Since launching in 2019 we have shipped to 20 countries.

Can I buy your rackets within the United States?

We don’t have a distributor within the US. Rackets, strung and unstrung, are usually shipped from England, including to every part of the US.

Can I buy a frame only?

Yes, of course!

Do you customise rackets?

Yes, we can customise the look of the racket by altering the cosmetics in some ways, and sometimes the frame length or grip height, but we don’t change the actual construction.

How long do your rackets take to make?

Depending on the schedules of our factory and stringer, a racket usually takes 4-5 weeks to hand-craft and string.

What are the differences between the models?

The differences are mainly cosmetic. As well, the ‘Mystique’ has a significantly longer grip – 9 inches. However, each batch of timbers is unique, making each frame unique.

What if a string breaks?

You may have a local stringer who can string wooden rackets. Alternatively, our stringer Paul Skipp may know of a suitable stringer in your area. As a last resort, rackets can be returned to Paul who will re-string and ship back to you.

Is Grays really the world’s oldest racket-maker?

Yes, it is. H.J. Gray & Sons was already making rackets for other racket games when “Lawn Tennis” was launched in 1874, and began making rackets for the new game within a short time. None of the other racket makers of that time, such as Jefferies and Malings, survive today.
