Stringing

Our master stringer, Paul Skipp

We are extremely pleased to be able to offer purchasers rackets strung by our wonderful racket technician Paul Skipp, ERSA Master Pro Tour Stringer and Wimbledon Head Stringer since 2014.

Based in England, Paul has strung at 32 Grand Slam tournaments over more than 30 years.

One purchaser even requested a letter from Paul stating he had strung their new Grays racket - which Paul was happy to do!

Stringing options

In consultation with Paul we offer purchasers their choice of four string types. Of course, these strings vary by their individual properties and characteristics and by price.

  • Babolat VS Touch natural gut

    GBP£50 / USD$65

  • Babolat Xcel multifilament

    GBP£28 / USD$35

  • Babolat Addixion multifilament

    GBP£24 / USD$30

  • Prince Original Synthetic Gut

    GBP£22 / USD$28

Purchasers may request a particular string tension, or go with Paul’s recommended tension of 45lbs mains x 47lbs crosses.

Specs cards

Each new Grays racket can come with a specs card stating -

  • String type

  • Tension

  • Weight, balance and swingweight before stringing

  • Weight, balance and swingweight after stringing

Stencilling

All models receive the Grays “G” stencil, except ‘The Wingfield’. This is our special Heritage Model designed to be reminiscent of the age in tennis rackets before stencilling.

Re-stringing

For those able to use the services of a local stringer for re-stringing, we can supply you with your own Grays “G” stencil.

For those unaware of a local stringer, Paul Skipp, who has many contacts around the world, may be able to advise of a suitable stringer closer to you.

If necessary, our rackets can be sent to Paul who will re-string and return ship to you.

As mentioned, purchasers can request their preferred string tension or go with our recommended tension.
