Wood Tennis Formats
Part of our vision is Wood Tennis – wood-versus-wood tennis – being played in many clubs and centres around the world, in a range of formats.
Here are some suggestions, and an offer to help make it happen.
Wood Tennis Groups
A Wood Tennis Group simply means participating players coming together regularly at a club or centre and playing with wood rackets, usually in a social format of the players’ choosing.
Players don’t even need to be using Grays rackets. Our rackets don’t mind sharing a court with vintage classics!
Wood Tennis Leagues
A Wood Tennis League could be a club-based competition, perhaps weekly, in which teams of players compete against each other, with all players using wood rackets.
It could be intra-club - within one club, or inter-club – between different clubs.
A Wood Tennis League would run as a season, with the winning team being decided at season’s end.
Wood Tennis Challenges
A Wood Tennis Challenge could be a one-off, or perhaps annual, event with a very limited number of players competing in matches on one day to determine the winner of the Challenge.
Matches should be to standard, ideally longer, formats, using standard courts and standard balls.
It could even be just one match between the two highest-credentialled available players – perhaps one best-of-three tiebreak set match - for a suitable prize.
Wood Tennis Championships
Where a larger number of players are available, a full tournament - a Wood Tennis Championship - can be held.
The tournament could be of any size, smaller or larger.
Events and formats can be decided by the organizing club, with the emphasis again on adhering to standard rules and conditions. The only difference is that the rackets are wood!
Our Offer
Clubs or centres anywhere in the world which purchase 5 new Grays rackets to facilitate any of the above Wood Tennis formats will receive a 5% discount on the price of the frames. That’s a 5% discount on a 5-racket purchase.
The club or centre can make the purchase, or participating players can make a collective purchase.
