Our Rackets
All models in the Grays family of rackets have the same construction - three specially-selected timbers and Leatheroid in a 9-ply lamination. They are individually hand-crafted to time-proven specifications. A Grays racket is a “player’s racket”.
Apart from on the ‘Junior Slam’ Graduate Trainer, all grips are premium leather by another renowned English company, Fairway by Balmforth (E.B. Balmforth Ltd).
Standard grip heights are 6 inches or 7 inches, depending on the model. On ‘The Masterpiece’ and the ‘Slam’, which have 6-inch standard grip heights, purchasers can order a 7-inch grip if they feel this better suits their game. The ‘Mystique’ features a ‘Borg-style’ 9-inch extended grip. Grip height of the ‘Junior Slam’ is 6 1/2 inches. This grip is a bubblegum-coloured Grays cushion grip.
Standard frame length is 27 inches, head size is 69 square inches, the string pattern is 18/20, and balance is head-light. The ‘Eco-Blue’ also comes in a 26 1/2 inch. The ‘Junior Slam’ is 26 inches in length.
While the process to make each frame is consistent, each batch of timbers is unique, and each frame is hand-crafted, making each racket unique.
Purchasers receive a bespoke, freshly made racket that plays like a new racket, not a vintage racket made decades ago which may or may not have been stored correctly.
We are also very happy to supply frames unstrung and to make Custom rackets for clients with customised cosmetics. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Two demo rackets - one ‘Mystique’ and one ‘The Masterpiece’ - are also available to try within the UK. Write to us to find out more.
